Problem solving with Dr. Joe CascianiThe longer we live, the more wisdom we have for problem solving and finding solutions. We’ve been through a few things and know firsthand that the old adage, “this too shall pass” is true.

And yet, there are times when an event, like a bad diagnosis or a death, knocks the wind — and optimism — right out of us. In those moments we may despair, freeze for fear of making the wrong decision, or simply lose hope.

But losing hope or letting fear hold you in place won’t change a thing,
Learning to embrace change and control your thoughts and feelings, will.

These are two of the 9 strategies for living to 100 and returning you to the confidence that “this too shall pass.”

The only way to weather setbacks is with resilience.

Resilience = flexibility.

Think of your resilient self as a willow in a windstorm. No matter which direction the wind blows, nor how hard, the willow bends and adjusts. When the storm is done, the willow remains graceful and full of life. Mighty oaks do not always fare so well in such a storm.

When we lose touch with our flexibility, the hard realities that can come with aging; illness, the death of a spouse, or a loss of vitality; can take a toll like never before.

The Bounce Back from Setbacks sessions are designed to guide and support you through whatever you are going through. Or, to simply talk through the problem; get some feedback from a professional.

Reimagine Resilience

Some setbacks require more than one session.

Or, you might decide you want a longer runway from where you are back to where you feel like yourself again. You might use a 90-day RYR program to create new health habits or heal from an illness, get through rehab after a stroke, or find a way to love life again after losing a partner or dear friend.

In 90 days, you could learn to de-clutter your mind of negative thoughts about your aging body, catastrophe thinking about the future, or seeing all the things that are wrong with your life. Your life would change.
